Top Shopping Spots in the Poconos

Aug 25, 2017

The Poconos is a shopper’s paradise. Tucked between the pine forests and scenic mountains, you’ll find quaint Victorian towns filled with charming boutiques and gift shops. Old-fashioned candy stores are around every corner. Fashion shops are particularly popular with tourists since Pennsylvania doesn’t charge sales tax on clothing.

Skytop Lodge is a luxurious home base for a Poconos shopping getaway. Vacationing with family? Let the kids enjoy a day of swimming or hiking on-property with dad, or schedule a tee time for your sweetie while you pop into town for some retail therapy. Just a short car ride from Skytop, the Poconos offers a diverse array of shops for every taste.

Eat, Love, Stay

The Poconos is known for adorable little general stores like Country Kettle in East Stroudsburg. This massive emporium is stocked with trinkets from bracelets, purses and wind chimes to collectible ceramic figurines. There’s also a diet-busting section of bulk candies – more than one hundred barrels! Since calories don’t count while you’re on vacation (wink, wink), you might as well check out Callie’s Candy or Callie’s Pretzel Factory, both of which have display kitchens where visitors can see the goods being made.

Light the Way

Candles are a popular souvenir for Poconos travelers. The talented wax workers at House of Candles in Henryville have been hand-carving colorful candles for more than 30 years, while Swiftwater’s quirky Candle Shoppe comes with its own walk-thru ghost house (the shop was actually featured on an episode of Animal Planet’s The Haunted).  American Candle tempts guests with rows after row of intricate wax sculptures so lovely you won’t want to light them. Gift items such as Swarovski jewels and Vera Bradley travel gear make it an excellent pit stop for bachelorette browsing.

Clothes for the Season

The usual department store suspects can be found at Stroud Mall or Pocono Village Mall, though most travelers prefer smaller boutique stores they can’t find at home. Stroudsburg caters to fashionistas with cute clothing shops like Sassie Girl Fashion and The Apple Tree. There, you’ll find pretty summer sundresses and bright, feminine blouses with flowing sleeves. Label lovers may prefer the discounted designer duds at The Crossings Premium Outlets, which features premium retailers including Kate Spade, Guess and Coach.

Skytop Lodge offers luxury accommodations in the heart of the Pocono Mountains, just a short car trip away from the area’s most frequented shopping sites. With 5,500 acres of private land, Skytop is packed with onsite activities and classes to keep the whole family entertained. So many, in fact, that you can pack light – leaving plenty of room for souvenirs in your suitcase.
