Visiting weekly farmer’s markets are a popular activity in the Poconos, for locals and visitors alike. As a Pocono Valley resort for nearly a century, we are not surprised by this at all. At Skytop Lodge, we are proud to support the local farmers and ranchers of Pocono Valley. We have been sourcing many of the ingredients for our restaurants from local producers for years. Discover the variety and abundance of Pocono Valley farms for yourself at one of the area’s fantastic farmers markets.
Saturdays 8AM-Noon
Open May through October, the outdoor Monroe Farmers Market features a variety of tasty treats including produce, dairy products, eggs, local honey, fresh baked goods, and wine. You can also find unique handmade crafts such as soaps and candles among the vendors. This Stroudsburg tradition is one of the first farmers markets in the area and has been open since 1979.
Wednesdays 3PM-6PM (beginning May 18)
About an hour north of Skytop Lodge you’ll find the quaint town of Honesdale, the home of The Cooperage Project Main Street Farmers’ Market. The Market is own of several aspects of The Cooperage Project, founded on the idea that strong relationships are the backbone of strong communities. In addition to weekly markets, The Cooperage Project offers a variety of programs, both entertaining and educational, to strengthen and celebrate the local community.
In addition to these farmers markets, the Pocono Valley countryside offers several small farms and country stores. A couple non-market local favorites include Village Farmer and Bakery where you can watch the pie making process, and Paupack Blueberry Farm, where you can pick your own blueberries and enjoy the unparalleled fresh-from-the-vine flavor of Pennsylvania blueberries.
If picking your own berries seems a bit daunting, don’t worry. At Skytop Lodge, we strive as a Pocono Valley resort to support Pocono Valley farmers and ranchers. You can taste the fresh flavors of Pennsylvania at all of our award-winning restaurants. Contact us today to book your stay at Skytop Lodge.
