Apr 2, 2018

When you come to the Pocono Mountains, chances are you’re coming for the beautiful scenery and fun outdoor activities. For many guests that stay with us, hiking is a popular activity. We are often asked about easy waterfall hikes that are great for the whole family. So, we’ve rounded up some of our favorites.

Bushkill Falls

This popular destination is known as, “The Niagara of Pennsylvania.” Here you’ll find eight waterfalls and more than two miles of trails and bridges for easy hiking. Hiking isn’t the only activity at this site, which is why it’s great for the whole family. You can also mine for gemstones, enjoy wildlife exhibits, fish in Twin Lakes, and stop for some ice cream at the shop. Bushkill Falls is open daily from April to October (sometimes November), and parking is free.

George W. Childs Recreation Site

You’ll see three main waterfalls along the short hiking trail at this site: Factory Falls, Fulmer Falls, and Deer Leap Falls. As you’re exploring nature, you can talk about how this site was named after a notable philanthropist. Take in the views of the tumbling water, and enjoy a family picnic before you head out.

Dingmans Falls

With 130 feet of falling water, Dingmans Falls is the second-highest waterfall in Pennsylvania. From the visitors center, follow the boardwalk trail. At the beginning of the hike, you’ll even see another waterfall called Silverthread Falls. It’s a short walk to Dingmans where you can catch the cool misty breeze from the waterfall on the viewing platform at the base.

Shohola Falls

A moderate 0.8-mile hike will lead you to the popular Shohola Falls. The cascades are breathtaking, and many fishermen visit this site year-round to enjoy the beautiful views and deep fishing holes.
