The Perfect Poconos Winter Wedding

Nov 10, 2017

If you’re considering a destination wedding during the wintertime, the Poconos is a magical place for your special day. It’s quiet and picturesque, especially in the cold season when the woods are blanketed with sparkling snow. The air is crisp and the landscape looks like a scene from a Thomas Kinkade painting.

A popular honeymoon destination, the Pocono Mountains has everything you need to host a memorable wedding, from chapels and venues to flowers and officiants. Plan your nuptials at Skytop Lodge, then stay with us to take advantage of the area’s recreational opportunities.

The Ceremony

The Pocono Mountains is home to a variety of venues ideas for your winter wedding. An outdoor location such as The South Porch at Skytop Lodge can accommodate up to 250 guests; its Southern charm is ideal for a country or vintage style wedding. For cold days and evening weddings, the Evergreen Ballroom is a smart indoor option. If you or your intended have your heart set on a church or synagogue wedding, contact area houses of worship to see if they allow non-congregants to be married there. Stroudsburg’s Grace Chapel, a historic white clapboard church, is among the more popular religious venues.

The Reception

The after-party for family and guests is an important part of your big day. Skytop’s Streamside Lodge is ideal for smaller gatherings, while the Evergreen Ballroom is large enough to accommodate both your ceremony and a formal reception. For something in-between, the Lakeview Dining Room inside The Inn at Skytop is a comfortable blend of rustic and elegant. This venue seats up to 150 guests, with scenic views of the lake and part of Skytop’s 5,500-acre property. Not sure which venue to choose? Try pairing your wedding style or theme to the site. For example, a small country wedding or clambake is well-suited to the Streamside Lodge, while an elegant winter wedding with theme colors of champagne and silver fits beautifully with the ballroom’s crystal chandeliers and expansive space.
