Excursions on the Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway leave from historic Jim Thorpe station in scenic Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania. Located just an hour south of Skytop Lodge, Jim Thorpe is a picturesque town on the banks of the Lehigh River. With Victorian-style homes and buildings, a walkable downtown area and beautiful mountain scenery, Jim Thorpe is a great destination for a day trip during your stay at Skytop Lodge. The Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway has been running trains from Jim Thorpe to the Lehigh Gorge State Park since 2005. Though the cars may be vintage, the railway is often adding features and events to enhance the experience for all riders. One such addition is a new caboose available for rent.
