How to Pack for Outdoor Activities

Sep 13, 2019

The Poconos is ideal for an outdoor vacation packed with adventure and relaxing in nature. Embracing the misty mornings and sunny afternoons is what makes this place so special. If you’re gearing up for afternoons spent playing Archery Tag and weekends conquering the Treetop Adventure Course, Skytop Lodge is the place to be. In fact, it’s the only place you’ll find these unique outdoor activities.

A vacation packed with outdoor activities is what memories are made of here in the Poconos. As the premier family resort in the Pocono Mountains, here’s what we recommend packing for your stay.

Clothes You Can Layer

Pack some long-sleeved shirts and lightweight jackets that you can shed as the day gets warmer. Layering your clothes is key to comfortably navigating our weather.

Clothes That Can Get Dirty

Swinging from the treetops and hiking along the lake are both popular activities here at Skytop Lodge. We’re not saying you’ll be rolling around in the mud, but you’ll definitely break a sweat and hug a tree or two while you’re here.

Hiking Boots

Sneakers are great for most outdoor activities, but for extended hikes, you’ll want to wear hiking boots with socks that cover your ankles.

Golf Attire & Clubs

Set atop the peak of a high plateau, our course is top rated. If you’ll be taking on the course, pack your clubs and golf attire. If you’re unable to pack your golf clubs, rentals are $30 and available through the Pro Shop.

Rain Gear

It might rain during your stay, so pack accordingly. You’ll want an umbrella, shoes you don’t mind getting muddy, and a raincoat.

Outdoor Backpack

Bring a backpack for your outdoor activities. One that is lightweight is ideal for carrying long distances, but it should be durable enough to carry water bottles, snacks, and extra clothing.

Bathing Suit

If it’s sunny, chances are you’ll want to be outside by the lake. A bathing suit is also nice to have if you’re doing any water activities like kayaking or canoeing.

Sun Protection

A hat and sunscreen are most often forgotten when packing for outdoor activities on vacation. Don’t forget to protect your skin from the sun! Throw in some bug spray while you’re at it.

Camera

We know you have your camera on your phone, but if you have a nice camera, bring it. The varying weather gives us some pretty spectacular views of the Poconos. Kids dancing at sunset would make for a wonderful holiday card.
