Love our Plein Air Days? Join one of our new Plein Air Workshops! Learn new techniques, skills and different ways to make a masterpiece.

 


Dates: August 24th

Cost: $125 Per Person, Per Workshop

Class Time: 9am-4pm (Workshop will include a midday lunch break, food not included)

Location: Meet in the Main Lobby (Pine Room)

Additional Information: This workshop will go over the basics of painting from life outdoors. We will discuss composition and design, palette set up and color mixing, thumbnail sketching to help decide on what to paint and to become aware of values, and use of tools to aid in creating your painting. You may bring whatever supplies you feel comfortable with. We strongly suggest, if you would like to fully benefit from this workshop, that you also work in oils. Each medium is different, and though the instructor might be able to advise you regarding composition, color, and value, if you choose a medium other than oil they cannot teach you the techniques they use.

Location: Meet in the Main Lobby (Pine Room)

Additional Information: We’ll delve into the use of primary, secondary, and tertiary colors, experiment with earth-toned palettes, and explore key concepts such as color temperature and value. You’ll practice color mixing on paper palettes, which you can keep as future references for your own work. All skill levels welcome. While demonstrations will focus on oil painting, acrylic painters are welcome.

Additional Information: Skilled in all mediums, Susan is a seasoned plein air and studio painter that will connect where you are in your art, and prepare you for painting en Plein Air”.  You will discover how to see beyond the obvious within the landscape, and explore the use color to capture the essence of mood and atmosphere in sky, water, and more. “Thumbnail Sketches” and their importance in supporting strong compositions and values within color, will help you “Target Focus” on what inspires you in the landscape or subject of your choice.
