The Poconos region is one of the most scenic places in the eastern U.S. Covering about 2,400-square-miles in Pennsylvania and its northern neighbors, it’s home to mountains, lakes, waterfalls and miles of lush, green woods. While any time of day is ideal to view the area’s natural beauty, sunset offers some of the most idyllic and photo-worthy scenes. Here are five of our favorite spots to witness stellar sunsets in the Pocono Mountains.
The Poconos is a pleasant place, from its stunning mountain vistas to the friendly people and comfortable lodges. But once a year, Pennsylvania’s most scenic vacation spot transforms into a spooky spectacle.
Pennsylvania’s Pocono Mountains region is one of the most spectacular places on the East Coast. The scenery here is worthy of a picture postcard, from orange-red sunsets over the Delaware Water Gap to Bushkill Falls – sometimes called the “Niagara Falls of Pennsylvania” – and the snow-covered slopes of Shawnee Mountain. Nearly every drive here is magical, especially if you veer into the area’s many charming towns and villages.
In the cooler season, Pennsylvania’s Pocono Mountains region transforms into a winter wonderland. By early December, the area is blanketed in a thick layer of sparkling snow. Woodland trails become scenes straight out of a postcard, with maples, birch trees and evergreens dusted in white.
