Get Your Adventure On at Hotels Near the Pocono Mountains

June 08, 2016

Looking for hotels near the Pocono Mountains with activities for the whole family? Since 1928, Skytop Lodge has been hosting family gatherings on the awe-inspiring 5,500-acre Skytop Estate in the beautiful Poconos. With a wide array of activities for adults and kids of all ages, Skytop Lodge is the perfect place for your summer family vacation. We’ve compiled a short list with a few of our most popular family-friendly activities.

Treetop Adventure Course

The 4,000-foot-long Treetop Adventure Course at Skytop Lodge is an exhilarating combination of obstacles and breathtaking natural beauty. Participants soar along sixteen separate ziplines, walk across hanging logs, scale ladders, cargo nets and elevated bridgeways. The course takes about four hours to complete, and there are height and size restrictions to ensure safety. Reservations for the Skytop Lodge Treetop Adventure Course are required and can be made in advance through our Adventure Center.

Paintball

Twice a day, three different playing fields on the Skytop Estate erupt with the sounds of paintball battles. The woodsball field offers shelter behind logs, fallen trees and branches. Pallets and plastic barrels spot the landscape of the Junkyard Field. The third field transports participants back in time to the Old West, an era of shootouts between sheriffs and outlaws. As teams battle it out across all three fields, they will be accompanied by our paintball referee to ensure fair play and safety. As with the Treetop Adventure Course, paintball reservations can be made in advance with The Adventure Center at Skytop Lodge.

Children’s Cooking Classes

While the older kids soar across ziplines or engage the enemy on the paintball field, younger children are welcome to experience one of our signature Skytop Cooking Classes. Led by Poconos native and professional chef, Angelo Santelli, Skytop Kids Cooking Classes are offered multiple times each week. We are currently featuring a 45-minute breakfast-themed cooking class with a rotating menu of the classics: pancakes, French toast and scrambled eggs or an omelet with bacon or sausage. Help kids discover the joy of cooking early at Skytop Lodge. Reservations can be made by calling 570-595-8925.
